A new chapter of collaboration between Guangzhou's Nansha District and Macao is set to unfold as both sides explore deeper ties in technology, trade, and culture during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030).
On July 29, Liu Wei, Member of the Standing Committee of the Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Nansha District Committee, led a delegation to Macao for the symposium commemorating the third anniversary of the Nansha Plan. The event aimed to advance the implementation of the plan and foster new opportunities for Guangdong-Macao cooperation.
Co-hosted by the Administrative Committee of the Guangzhou Nansha Development Zone and the Guangzhou Nansha Guangdong-Macau Development and Promotion Association, the symposium was chaired by Xie Wei, Deputy Secretary-General of the Guangzhou Municipal Government and Deputy Director of the Nansha Development Zone’s Management Committee.
From empowering businesses in their global expansion to unlocking "blue opportunities" in the marine economy; from leveraging complementary strengths in industrial parks to building cultural bonds through tourism and sports integration—the potential for synergy between Nansha and Macao is vast.
The symposium highlighted a shared vision to harness the Greater Bay Area's dynamism, positioning both regions for high-quality growth in the coming years.
